I’m on a bit of a video roll these days.
It was the long weekend up in this here country they call CANADA, and with long weekends come crazy busy family times.
Joey, my #2 daughter, turned 8 years old on Sunday. The 7 of us spent the day together on Sunday and then we took her and 3 of her friends out for an Alice in Wonderland party on Monday and then back to our place for afternoon tea.
Can’t remember what we did on Friday and Saturday…my short term memory seems to be failing me these days.
I’ve long said that when you have 5 children, your weekends are usually busier than your weekdays and that’s holding true more and more as the kids get older.
If fact, our summer schedule officially starts today. We now have to manage our logistics as Rozanne, Joey & Frankie all have soccer practices and games, AJ has beach volleyball 3 days per week and I’m splitting time coaching with AJs beach club and the National Team. I have no idea how we’re going to manage when Mikey & Q are in full swing with sports.
So, in a rush yesterday morning, both Rozanne and I had to get a workout in. So like a happy married couple who likes to we split time between doing a kettlebell/bodyweight circuit and – no joke – icing cupcakes for the birthday girl and her friends.
We did it in a "you go, I go" fashion where while one was working hard on their circuit, the other was slather chocolate-cream cheese icing on a cupcake.
A little ironic that we’re training for fat loss while icing up something as sugar-laden and fatty as a cupcake, but that’s how life goes.
As parents we really try to make sure that our kids have a great relationship with food, so we don’t deprive ourselves of treats. We just don’t eat that stuff that often. But, that’s a lesson for another day.
Anyway, the circuit that we did was so ridiculously simple that I had to film a video to share it with you….
Simple, but if you use a heavy enough kettlebell, NOT EASY.
It’s just like the mentality that you need to have when you want to lose fat. Accept that the formula for fat loss is VERY SIMPLE – eat REAL FOOD, train hard, manage stress, get enough rest – it just isn’t EASY.
