great video–I love bodyweight exercises too–trying right now to do all bodyweight stuff for 3 weeks and see how it works.
Cant wait to see what you have to say about the powerblocks they have for Kettlebells.

Hi Melkon
Any flat soled shoes will do…or you can even go barefoot.
I usually train in converse all-stars and when I run hills or do sprints I wear Nike Frees. The shoes I’m wearing in the video are deadstock adidas Stan Smiths from 1980ish that belonged to my dad, so there is next to no cushioning in those.
I hear the vibram 5 fingers shoes are pretty cool too.
But you are right, running shoes suck for everything…especially any type of resistance training.

Hey Chris, I know of one option that you could use as well but I dunno if it’d work as well. You set a heavy bar down low at the squat rack with heavy weights on each side, place your ankles underneath and then do it from there. Of course, the bar will have to be leveraged on the squat supports.
Can I use the hamstring curl machine or hyperextensions instead?

either one is fine, although I’d prefer stability ball leg curls to the hamstring curl machine.

Oh and btw Chris, I read your previous comment. Are Nike Free Sparqs cool for gym use?

I’m not sure about Nike Free Sparqs, but if they’re frees, they should be fine.
My understanding is that the lower in “version number” you go, the flatter the sole. So 5.0s will be “better” for you than 7.0′s.
